Overview:
Don't lose hope if you live in a Victorian gem: deep retrofitting and a heat pump can reduce your energy consumption by up to 75%.
Domestic property energy consumption equates to 14% of all UK carbon emissions, and older buildings can provide us with more flexibility to adopt appropriate solutions. Building regulations are designed to allow us to retrofit appropriately. In good authorities regulators are even prepared to abandon data and be flexible
Our Speaker:
Ralph Carpenter is an architect. He owns the Zero Carbon House in Hartest, Suffolk and is considered to be the 'grandfather' of hempcrete. A key part of Ralph's mission is to show communities and individuals what really is possible in terms of creating inspiring, low-impact green buildings to live and work in.
